Minion liar

Just Wait and See. It might happen sooner than later.

HERE ARE JUST A FEW

  1. “We’ve defended the borders of other nations, while leaving our own borders wide open..”  Over the last 10 years, we’ve seen a 90% drop in illegal border crossings as a result of increased enforcement.
  2. …for anyone to cross — and for drugs to pour in at a now unprecedented rate.”  Drug seizures are actually down.
  3. “Since my election, Ford, Fiat-Chrysler, General Motors, Sprint, Softbank, Lockheed, Intel, Walmart, and many others, have announced that they will invest billions of dollars in the United States and will create tens of thousands of new American jobs.”  Trump claims that his policies have led these companies to create 70,000 jobs. But 69,000 of those jobs were in the works before election and 700 were the result of Obama’s policies.
  4. “We have begun to drain the swamp of government corruption by imposing a 5 year ban on lobbying by executive branch officials — and a lifetime ban on becoming lobbyists for a foreign government.  Trump’s lobbyist ban actually removes some of Obama’s ethics rules instead of strengthening them.
  5. “We’ve saved taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars by bringing down the price of the fantastic new F-35 jet fighter, and will be saving billions more dollars on contracts all across our Government”.  The savings with the F-35 were in the works before Trump complained about the price tag.
  6. “We have cleared the way for the construction of the Keystone and Dakota Access Pipelines — thereby creating tens of thousands of jobs.” The Dakota Access pipeline is nearly built. Keystone would create 3,900 direct construction jobs and 16,000 total jobs on an annual basis.
And those are just temporary jobs; the permanent job count at Keystone will be 35.
  7. Help unemployed by cracking down on immigration.  A pathway to citizenship will create 145,000 jobs each year.
  8. In the last 8 years, the past Administration has put on more new debt than nearly all other Presidents combined.  This claim is misleading. Obama actually curt the deficit by almost three-quarters.
  9. “At the same time, we will provide massive tax relief for the middle class.”  Trump’s tax plan isn’t designed to help middle class: 6.6% of the plan goes to middle class, 47.3% goes to the top 1%, almost 25% goes to the top 0.1%.
  10. “…stopping a regulation that threatens the future and livelihoods of our great coal miners.”  The coal industry is a victim of market forces and the invent of other energy sources, not regualtions.
  11. “I just met with officials and workers from a great American company, Harley-Davidson. In fact, they proudly displayed five of their magnificent motorcycles, made in the USA, on the front lawn of the White House.”  Harley-Davidson motorcycles are assembled in the United States but assembled using parts from Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Japan, and Mexico.
  12. We have withdrawn the United States from the job-killing Trans-Pacific Partnership.”  “We have withdrawn the United States from the job-killing Trans-Pacific Partnership.”

There used to be show called Truth or Consequences on TV in the 1950’s thru the early 1970’s.  We now have a real time reality show called Trump and Contradictions.

Every politician accuses his or her opponent of flip-flopping their position on certain ideologies and promises, some more than others.  We are now in the MOST more than others.  The following examples are either direct quotes from a speech or a tweet and some are reported remarks.  For example:

September 27, 2016 – “If you’re not guilty of a crime, what do you need immunity for”?

March 31, 2017 – “Mike Flynn should ask for immunity in that this is a witch hunt (excuse or big election loss), by media & Dems, of historic proportion”

June 15, 2013 – “We should stay the hell out of Syria, the “rebels” are just as bad as the current regime. WHAT WILL WE GET FOR OUR LIVES AND $ BILLIONS?? ZERO”.

September 2013 – “President Obama, do not attack Syria.  There is no upside and tremendous downside.  Save your “powder” for another (and more important) day.”

April 5, 2017 – “…These heinous actions by the Bashar al-Amad regime are a consequence of the past administration’s weakness and irresolution”.

August 2012 – “An extremely credible source has called my office and told me that Barack Obama’s birth certificate is a fraud”.

September 2016 – “Any time you see a story about me or my campaign saying “sources said”, DO NOT believe it.  There are no sources, they are just made-up lies.”

November 2012 – “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make United States manufacturing non-competitive”.

September 22, 2016 – In the first presidential debate, Donald Trump denied saying that he stated climate change was a Chinese hoax.

October 9, 2016 – “If I win, I want a special prosecutor looking into Clinton’s “situation“,”.

November 22, 2016 – President-Elect Trump said he had no intention of pressing for an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server or the financial operations of her family’s foundation, dropping the “Lock her up” pledge that became a rallying cry for his campaign for the White House.

July 8, 2015 – Candidate Trump, “Hillary Clinton was the worst Secretary of State in the history of the United States”.

May 11, 2016 – “Hillary Clinton I think is a terrific woman. I’m a little biased because I’ve known her for years. I live in New York. She lives in New York. …”.

Jan 30, 2017 – Trump: “Keystone and Dakota pipelines will be built with American steel … the pipe to be manufactured with United States steel,” Trump said.

March 3, 2017 – The Keystone XL pipeline won’t be required to use American-made steel to earn construction approval from the Trump administration, the White House said Friday, despite President Donald Trump’s repeated claims.

June 15, 2016 – I will build a great wall — and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me –and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”

Campaign promise – Trump has insisted that he will force Mexico to pay for the wall, but Mexican officials have refused. The president’s budget request Thursday included $2.6 billion, mostly for first stages of the wall.

March 9, 2017 – When asked whether the neighbouring nation would foot the bill, he said ‘Uh, no’ – Senator Mitch McConnell.

Trump is at his most bewildering when it comes to nukes. He has repeatedly insisted that nuclear stockpiles should be reduced, saying last week, “I think nuclear weapons should be way down and reduced very substantially.”

But it’s difficult to square that view with the position he took in December, when he tweeted, “The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes.”

He elaborated the next day that he had no problem if that position led other countries to build up their own nuclear capabilities. “Let it be an arms race,” he reportedly told MSNBC.

And we’re not even 100 days into this!!!

Let Me Just Say This About That

I know I’m a day late and a dollar short but I just can’t pass up an opportunity to tell it like it is!  Thursdays are great for my Top Ten List and for Throwback Thursdays.  This Thursday is all about mendacity, as Big Daddy would say in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.  The subtitle of this blog could easily be named Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire!

You can call a rose by any other name and it’s still a rose and that goes for lies also.  Lately lies have been called untruths, alternative facts, and misspoken words.  A lie is a lie is a lie!

LIE: Feb. 7, 2017: Lied that the murder rate was the highest in 45 years

FACT: The US murder rate is at close to an all-time low, and law enforcement experts say Trump’s claim is so far away from the facts that it’s ludicrous. Based on FBI statistics, the murder rate was 5.0 homicides per 100,000 people in 2015, down from a peak in 1980 of 10.2 per 100,000 people. The highest number of total homicides was in 1991, when 24,703 were killed. Though several US cities have seen the number of murders rise from 2015 to 2016, the overall number is still dramatically lower than what it was in the 1980s and 1990s.

LIE: Feb. 6, 2017: Claimed that terrorist attacks across Europe are “not even being reported”. Trump says, “the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report” on terrorism: “They have their reasons, and you understand that.”

FACT: The Paris and Nice attacks that Trump mentioned in his speech were extensively covered by every major US media organization. Other attacks that have also received extensive media attention include an attack in Brussels in March 2016, as well as an incident in February 2017 at the Louvre museum in Paris in which a man attempted to use a machete and was shot by a soldier.

LIE:  (Tweet 1+2) Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump
Only 109 people out of 325,000 were detained and held for questioning. Big problems at airports were caused by Delta computer outage,…..
7:16 AM – 30 Jan 2017

Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump
protesters and the tears of Senator Schumer. Secretary Kelly said that all is going well with very few problems. MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN!
7:20 AM – 30 Jan 2017

FACT: The mass outrage and confusion at airports from Friday through Sunday was caused by Trump’s executive order itself, which travelers, immigration attorneys, airlines, judges, and custom officials struggled to interpret. Delta’s outage didn’t happen until Sunday night, and no protesters interrupted the arrivals process at airports.

LIE: Jan. 26, 2017: Lied about Mexico’s president “agreeing to cancel” a meeting

FACT: Hours earlier, Peña Nieto tweeted that he called the White House to cancel the meeting, adding, “I lament and reject the decision of the United States to continue building a wall that for years does not unite us, but divides us.”

LIE: “Look, when President Obama was there two weeks ago making a speech, a very nice speech. Two people were shot and killed during his speech,” Trump told ABC News’ David Muir. “They weren’t shot at the speech. But they were shot in the city of Chicago during his speech.”

FACT:  Chicago Police told BuzzFeed News there were no people killed by gun violence on Jan. 10. A log of shootings in the city also showed there were five non-fatal shootings in the city that day, but none occurred while Obama gave his speech.

LIE: “You have people who are registered who are dead, who are illegals, who are in two states,” Trump told ABC’s David Muir. “You have people registered in two states. You have people registered in New York and New Jersey. They vote twice.” He also cited a Pew report as evidence, saying, “Take a look at the Pew reports.”

FACT: There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud. The National Association of Secretaries of State — which has a majority of Republicans — said it is “not aware of any evidence that supports the voter fraud claims made by President Trump.” And in a Michigan legal filing by Trump’s lawyers after the election, they wrote, “All available evidence suggests that the 2016 general election was not tainted by fraud or mistake.”

LIE:  Trump finished his ABC News interview by pointing to framed photographs hung on a wall. “Here’s a picture of the crowd,” he said. “The audience was the biggest ever. This audience was massive, look how far back it goes.” He then pointed to another panoramic photo, saying the crowd — which he described as “a sea of love” — goes “all the way down.”

FACT: The audience wasn’t “the biggest ever.” As mentioned above, photographs from the inauguration show the crowd did not extend as far back as Trump claims it did.

LIE: The inaugural crowd “looked honestly like a million and a half people” adding that “it went all the way back to the Washington Monument.”

FACT: Aerial photos of the crowd at 11a.m. and 12 p.m. — around the time Trump took the oath of office — show that the crowd witnessing the inauguration did not extend back to the Washington Monument.

Inauguration Day January 20th 2017

LIE: Trump said God favored him during his inaugural address by stopping rain from falling when he spoke. “And then it became really sunny,” he said.

FACT: In fact, It rained throughout his speech.

LIE:   Feb. 7, 2017  Twitter – The claim: “It is a disgrace that my full Cabinet is still not in place, the longest such delay in the history of our country.”

FACT: Trump does not even come close to the record for the longest delay before having a full cabinet in place. We only have to go back one presidency for proof: Barack Obama didn’t have his final cabinet member confirmed until April 28, 2009, 99 days into his presidency. Trump wasn’t even a full 19 days into his presidency when he posted this tweet.

Unfortunately there are more, many more alternative facts, faleshoods – perhaps another Thursday…
